Southern Minnesota Mentors Toastmasters
Club 7470
Rochester, MN

Southern Minnesota Mentors Toastmasters Club is an advanced club specializing in leadership.
Our membership is open to anyone who either has already achieved the
CTM (Competent Toastmaster) or CC (Competent Communicator) award, or who belongs to another
Toastmasters club, or both.
Because our members belong to or have belonged to other Toastmasters
clubs, we offer a rich mix of Toastmasters diversity. Because many of
our members are current or past district officers, we offer a wealth of
Toastmasters leadership experience. Because many of our members are
active participants in district events,
such as conferences, conventions, and TELIs, we offer familiar and
friendly faces at district events.
Our club meets monthly, generally the last Saturday of the month,
unless that conflicts with a holiday or district event. See the club
calendar for exact meeting dates. We meet at the Rochester Methodist Hospital, Dining Room 6, 201 W Center St, Rochester, MN, 8:30 - 9:30 am.
We chartered on July 1, 2000.
We are club 7470, in area 83, Southern Division, District 6, Region IV, Toastmasters International.

Most frequently asked question:
I have no leadership experience, can I join Southern Minnesota Mentors Toastmasters?
Absolutely!
Our members range from those who are just getting their feet wet in
leadership to those who have many years of leadership experience within
and outside of Toastmasters. Whether you want to be a leader, or
coach others as they find their leadership style, we provide
an effective and supportive venue for pursuing your goals.
Here's more about Toastmasters International:
In
October 1924, a group of men assembled by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley met in the
basement of the YMCA in Santa Ana, California, U.S.A., forming a club to afford
practice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over
meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members. The
group took the name Toastmasters. We are a local
chapter of Toastmasters
International.
Today, Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization which
gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public
speaking and leadership abilities through local club meetings, training seminars and speech
contests. Toastmasters International includes nearly 235,000 men and women
in more than 12,000 clubs in more than 100 countries.
Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from
our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to
the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids,
Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a
friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason
you areto become better communicators.
At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and
working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmasters
club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet once a week for about an hour. Each
meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings,
giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering
constructive evaluation.
